Consultation
The practice of ongoing consultation is not exclusive to therapists in training; it remains a valuable and indispensable tool for licensed therapists as well. It serves to amplify skills, uphold ethical standards, ease burnout, and continue a path of continuous professional advancement. I personally believe in a lifelong learning process.
My approach in consultation mirrors that of my approach as a therapist; I have a relaxed and easy–going style yet at the same time I provide guidance and insight with integrity. I do not strictly adhere to one theoretical approach; instead, I integrate various techniques based on the individual needs and preferences of my consultees. Some of my favorite models include MSC, EMDR, CBT, MI, psychodynamic, strength based and more.
Navigating clients’ struggles and confronting challenging situations can be emotionally and mentally draining. Consultation provides therapists with a confidential space to discuss their own feelings, as well as work through transference, and counter-transference in a safe and reassuring environment.
